Im letzten Posting hatte ich es ja schon mal angedeutet: Offenbar geraten Google und Apple gerade aneinanderr. Inzwischen schaltet sich die US-Telekommunikationsbehörde FCC in den Streit ein.

Google Voice

Das ging fix. Erst vor wenigen Tagen hat Apple sich inoffiziell geweigert, die neue Google-Applikation "Google Voice" in den App Store aufzunehmen. Anfang der Woche schrieb einer der führenden Entwickler von Google, Sean Kovacs, in seinem Blog über den Streit mit Apple: "Richard Chipman from Apple just called - he told me they’re removing GV Mobile from the App Store (...)".

Grund war laut Apple, dass Google Voice eine Reihe von Features mitbringe, die das iPhone in ähnlicher Art selbst biete. Darüber hat Apple sich nun offenbar bei der FCC beschwert. Die Behörde will nun prüfen, ob Apple gegen Wettbewerbsrecht verstößt, berichtet die Nachrichtenagentur Dow Jones.

Augenscheinlich ist zumindest das Argument, Google Voice bringe ähnliche Funktionen wie das iPhone schon etwas merkwürdig. In anderen Fällen (Fring, Camera Pro, etc.) hatte Apple nämlich überhaupt keine Einwände gegen solche Applikationen.
